A few months ago, I had my battery replaced, and shortly after, I began noticing that the coolant level in the back left bottle was dropping often. Over about three months, I added nearly two quarts of coolant, and just when I thought everything was fine, it seemed to stop consuming coolant around the beginning of August.

So recently I took a 70-mile round trip, and on the way back, I noticed a warning light in the driver information center. After checking the coolant bottles, I saw they were all slightly above max and I hoped it was just a fluke...anyway, during the drive home, the check engine light came on, along with a coolant pump malfunction warning.

When I got home, I plugged in my code reader and found multiple active codes suggesting a coolant pump malfunction and something about a communication error involving the coolant heater. I’m a bit worried and trying to schedule a dealer visit, but I’m also concerned they won’t be able to help if the lights aren't on when I get there.

After I had my battery replaced, I noticed a drop in coolant a few weeks later, which the dealer topped off. Then, about a month afterward, I got the warnings again. Took it back in, and everything’s been fine since. Even if the warning lights aren’t consistent, you can reach a dealer check to catch any lingering issues..
